Who We Are
Children of God
God loves to call His people children. As our Father, God extends His unconditional love while growing and shaping us into the men and women He wants us to be. Even when we can’t make sense of the things in this life, we trust that He always has us in His hand and is working all things out to accomplish His desire to redeem and restore creation. As God’s children, we have brothers and sisters to share in life’s journey - we call this church. Together, we walk with God, serving one another in love and acting as the hands and feet of Jesus in this world.
Saved By Grace
What compels you to do the things you do and live the way you live? Followers of Jesus are compelled by the simple truth that we have been saved by grace. We don’t need to spend our days trying to win God’s approval or favor. Rather, we are fully accepted by God because Jesus laid down His life to take away our sin, guilt, and shame. This is good news and we call it grace. As we turn to Jesus, He fixes the brokenness in our lives, making us more like Him – more gracious, more compassionate, and more generous. His love is so profound and beautiful that we cannot help but to extend it to the world around us.
Freed to Love
As God rescues us, we discover God has a divine purpose for our lives. Sometimes Christians can lose sight of this and spend their days waiting passively for heaven. While it is true that Jesus is preparing a place for us in the Kingdom to come, Jesus also kept insisting that through His life and the life of His followers, the Kingdom of God was powerfully invading this broken world. Love is the weapon that Jesus commands His followers to use. By learning and choosing to love, we discover our abilities and God expands our opportunities in the mission of His Kingdom.
We are a Covenant Church
We are a part of a movement called the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC). The ECC is a rapidly growing multiethnic denomination in the United States and Canada with ministries on five continents of the world. Founded in 1885, the ECC values the Bible as the word of God, the gift of God’s grace and ever-deepening spiritual life that comes through a faith with Jesus Christ, the importance of extending God’s love and compassion to a hurting world, and the strength that comes from unity within diversity.
The Evangelical Covenant Church is:
Evangelical, but not exclusive
Biblical, but not doctrinaire
Traditional, but not rigid
Congregational, but not independent
Identity and Biblical Mission
We are united by Christ in a holy covenant of churches empowered by the Holy Spirit to obey the great commandments and the great commission: to love God with all our heart, soul, strength, and mind, to love our neighbors as ourselves, and to go into all the world and make disciples.
